About Us

Our Mission Statement

At Duck Worth Wearing we are driven by our passion for quality resale and our commitment to our customers, consignors, and employees, creating a win/win atmosphere of service, pride and trust.

Duck Worth Wearing has two locations in Central Iowa.  Our Ames location is located in beautiful Downtown Ames, at the corner of Kellogg and Main.  Our Ankeny store is located just West of the Prairie Trail Hy-Vee in the Plaza Shoppes center and just up the street from the popular Main Street Cafe and Bakery.

Duck Worth Wearing has served central Iowa since 2000.  We are a quality children's and maternity clothing, equipment and toy store.  Duck Worth Wearing also carries a large selection of new Melissa & Doug toys, and doll clothes. We strive to have the highest quality inventory at prices that work with your budget.

Nena Murphy - Ames Manager

Nena has Worked at Duck Worth wearing since 2010.  Nena is an Ames native and loves calling Ames home. Her roots go deep as she grew up in the area and raised her three daughters Megan, Mollie, and Mallory. Nena finds great joy in attending her family events and with her free time loves to shop, go to movies and relax.

Amy Bishop - Ankeny Manager

Amy has been at Duck Worth Wearing for more than 15 years, working in both the Ames and Ankeny stores proving instrumental during the expansion to the Ankeny market.

Amy graduated from UNI with a degree In Elementary and Early Childhood Education with a minor in math. Before working for Duck Worth she taught and was the director at a preschool for 6 years.

Amy and her husband Clark have two daughters, Mya and Cadence.  In her free time she supports her daughters’ activities which include band, dance, choir, and basketball- as well as enjoys time with her friends, motorcycle rides with her husband, movies, and music. She is active in her church, serving as ProPresenter technician for the worship team, is part of the missions team and teaches children’s Sunday school.

Amy & Eric Abrams - Owners

Amy and Eric became the owners of Duck Worth wearing in 2006. Three years later they opened The Loft in 2009. Amy and Eric grew up just miles apart with Amy's stomping grounds of Radcliffe, Iowa and Eric in Story City, Iowa. As Iowa natives, purchasing the store in Ames seemed the perfect fir for giving back to the area they grew up in.

Eric keeps busy working part time at a geospatial technology company. In addition Eric helps out at the stores by managing the finances, marketing and website maintenance. This complements Amy's skill set as she is not fond of numbers. Amy's schedule is packed with working between the 4 stores. She is jack of all trades and the glue that holds the stores together.

When not working Eric & Amy enjoy time with their two children.  Colby is a chemical engineer for Nestle. His wife Shelby and their daughter Ellie live in Salt Lake City. Mackenzie is a 2021 graduate of Iowa State University and is a 1st grade teacher at United Community School District. Waiting at home is their dog Milo, who can be found from time to time wandering Duck Worth Wearing.
